- There is no adecuate weight for a padel bat, however there is an adecuate weight for each player, taking a series of factors and characteristics into account. A bad selection can cause injury.
- A light bat is more manageable whereas a heavier bat gives more power.
- It’s recomendad to play with the heaviest bat with which you feel comfortable, with the added advantage that a heavy bat absorbs the impacts and vibrations better.

The score

Hi friends!!!
The following is advice to assist you in keeping control of the score throughout the match. It’s very important that you know where the game stands, because, for example, you shouldn’t play a point the same way if the score is 40-15 or 15-40. And it’s a good way of keeping your concentration during the game.
- Try to not start a point unless you know the score
- Call the score in a loud voice
- If you find it difficult to keep the score, you could agree between you that the server calls the score

On which side to play? – Specialization
![]() |
| Juan Martín Díaz |
Hi friends!!!
The following is my expressed opinión about this controversial subject and I’d like to give you my view on whether it’s advisable to be able to play on both sides.
You have almost certainly been in the situation where, in a match, your partner happens to be in the habit of playing on the same side as you, in which case, one of you will be forced to make a sacrifice. You could possibly agree to playing one set each on your desired side or play without “the Australian”.
It’s also true, that at professional and advanced levels the players always play on the same side, and it’s very unusual to see one of the players changing sides during the match, except in a specific point which requires this.
So what should we do? Is it good to be able to play on both sides? Should we train on both sides? Should we only work on and strengthen our game on one particular side?

The Australian?
Hi friends!!!
Many of you are accustomed to, when serving, changing the position from which you serve. That means, for example, that when it’s deuce, you serve from the right side and when it’s advantage, you serve from the left side. Is this correct? Why, therefore, do the professionals always play on the same side? Is it better? I would like to expose and argue my own personal opinion on this subject.

The backhand: one or two hands?
![]() |
| Miguel Lamperti |
Hi friends!!!
Many pupils ask me about the possibility of playing the backhand with two hands. There are also many pupils who, never having taken lessons, directly start playing with two hands. Should this be corrected? Is it advisable to play the backhand with two hands? In the next few lines I will describe a series of arguements for and against playing backhand with two hands.

Tie-break
Rules:
- The tie-break is a simple “breaking of even games”, which means:
- The player serves whose service it corrresponds
- He serves from the right
- The service of each player lasts two points, except the first serve, which only lasts one point (1-2-2-2-..)
- One should always alternate the side to which one serves, i.e., if the last service was done from the left, the next service should be done from the right and viceversa (1 -right-, 2 -left/right-, 2 -left/right-, 2 -left/right-, ...)
- One should change sides when the points add up to 6 or multiples of 6
- The tie-break finishes when one pair reach 7 points, but only when there is a difference of 2 points, otherwise play continues until a difference of 2 points is established

Hi friends!!!
The following unofficial rules should be followed to avoid unpleasant situations during the match:
- Don’t return the ball if the service is out
- Excuse yourself at the end of the point if your ball has touched the net
- When you pass balls to your opposition, try to pass them directly to them
- Don’t make comments about balls on the opposite side of the court
- Try to not celebrate the unforced errors of the opposition

Return
![]() |
| Carolina Navarro |
Hi friends!!!
I would like to expose a series of rules and some advice with reference to the return:
- Once the order of the return has been defined, it should be maintain throughout the set
- Once the set has finished, the order of the return can be varied
- The receiver is always obliged to let the ball bounce
- The receiver can stand wherever he/she pleases on his/her side
- My advice is that you stand one metre from the side wall and one metre behind the service line

- The service position should not pass the imaginary central line
- Don’t serve when moving
- Always bounce the ball before hitting it
- Only one bounce is allowed before hitting the ball
