Tie-break

Rules:
  • The tie-break is a simple “breaking of even games”, which means:
    • The player serves whose service it corrresponds
    • He serves from the right
  • The service of each player lasts two points, except the first serve, which only lasts one point (1-2-2-2-..)
  • One should always alternate the side to which one serves, i.e., if the last service was done from the left, the next service should be done from the right and viceversa (1 -right-, 2 -left/right-, 2 -left/right-, 2 -left/right-, ...)
  • One should change sides when the points add up to 6 or multiples of 6
  • The tie-break finishes when one pair reach 7 points, but only when there is a difference of 2 points, otherwise play continues until a difference of 2 points is established
  • All tie-break scores, independently of the result, are reflected as 7/6, although the exact result can be specified
  • At the end of the tie-break one should change sides to start the next set
  • In the next set, the pair will serve who did not serve to start the tie-break, not being important which player of the pair serves because it’s a new set (in the next example, the blue or yellow player will serve)

    Example:

Taking for example the following situation, leading up to the tie-break...
